Yes the military does have as big an effect as the
Internet when it comes to being a superpower. To be a super power, a country
needs to have a number of things that help it become a superpower like a strong
economy, strong military, international political power and a strong national
ideology. Now, when it comes down to just the military, if there is a situation
like a war, it cannot just be done on the Internet. For example, the U.S fits
most of the categories stated above except economy because of what happened
with the stock market. Yet the U.S still took a lot of pride in their military
and made sure that the wars being fought abroad were still being funded no
matter what the circumstances were. That is why a lot of the money is spent on
the army. The military of a country is sort of like the shape of the body of a
person. If a there is a strong military, then the person is muscular, but if
the military is weak, it is like a weak and scrawny person that people know
they can mess with. Europe to is trying to show their muscle by using military
in Mali and so on. Military also does not just mean man power but there are
also other technologies like missiles which can help a country like what China
is doing for example.
